This month’s FutureMusic magazine features my lastest track Coffee Blossom in their reader demo’s section. March Issue 237, page 117 has Coffee Blossom on pages read by both industry giants and amatures around the world, in a magazine that features pro advice for the recording musician. They seem to approve of the track- “some nice guitar work combined with heavy production pizzazz keeps things interesting throughout its duration”, and they offer some great advice, ” there’s fantastic use of reverbs, delays and reverse work here, there just needs to be more time spent placing instruments around the mix and scooping out the mid frequences into a less- how can we say- woomphy tone.” – Thanks FutureMusic, I shall head your advice
Here’s what they say:
“we approve- it’s a very nice, rounded sound. That said, although the sparkly top end might seem like the hi-fi thing to do, try softening it with a little tape emulation or an analogue stage as it might give it a softer, even more pleasing finish.
There’s fantastic use of reverbs, delays and reverse work here, there just needs to be more time spent placing instruments around the mix and scooping out the mid frequences into a less- how can we say- woomphy tone. “I’d love some better monitors, acoustic treatment for my studio, and a high quality microphone,” says Dougie. Yup, we reckon that ought to do it.
Back to the track there’s some nice guitar work combined with heavy production pizzazz keeps things interesting throughout its duration. Nice work, just work on that mix.” -FutureMusic
