Filled with Piano and accordion Tango music, at times heard from the womb perspective of the baby, Bump’s soundtrack was great fun to make! It’s a playfully absurd family show that follows a day in the life of Inmaculada, who’s seven months pregnant and craving cereal. But it also challenges common perceptions of parenthood, and explores the emotional and hormonal challenges faced during pregnancy. I think it’s a great show to open up conversations about the growth of an unborn child, between parents and children.

Amber-May had the idea of tango music quite early on in the process when sharing ideas with myself and Chris, the director. It became a hook for the show and also established the Spanish heritage of the main character.

Here’s the opening track- We hear the characters from the womb’s perspective, then we hear a tango track played on a record player- featuring accordion, string orchestra, and piano.

It was great to work with Amber-May of Lot’s of Odds and the Half Moon Theatre team again!
