Another project with long term collaborators Lila Dance, creating concept images for their new dance work The Hotel Experience.
I’ve been working with Lila Dance again over the last few months on a new immersive dance performance called The Hotel Experience. Here are some shots from my photoshoot with them in the Creation Space at The Point. I love dance photography and when it is always interesting to try to capture the themes of the show in photoshoot. One of my key aims was to use flash photography to freeze moments in time or motion, illustrating how the hotel is a place of transition. The show has a magical element to it, that the hotel itself feels somehow alive, and i’ve tried to show this through the surreal look of bodies floating above the bed. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
In two week Lila Dance’s The Deluge will start touring to rural venues across the UK. The immersive dance show has been adapted for the tour, so I took the opportunity to test my new Olympus E-M5 mk ii camera out, and shoot this short trailer video.
All footage was shot on an Olympus Em5 mark ii. I think it really shows off the in-camera stabilisation, and I am very impressed with the focus tracking even in incredibly dark lighting.

Dougie Evans is a composer for dance as well as a photographer and filmmaker.
The final touches have been made on Tracker, the exciting piece from Lila Dance. After a successful first tour, the piece has been re-made with the help of arts council funding, to be an even more gripping quartet. The music was re-recorded, re-mixed and re-mastered, and paired with the breathtaking and energaic dance, it proves to be quite a spectacle. It shows at the Point in Eastleigh, UK as part of a Lila double-bill, which includes the Premiere of their new work, a specially commissioned trio by the Italian choreographer Simona Bertozzi – her first work for a UK company.
25th March The Point Eastleigh
Lila Dance have made an epic 40 mins peice for their youth company, and i’m extremely excited to see it.
I will be getting the video soon, and can’t wait to start work on the full track. Tragic circumstances led to me being unable to attend the process, and they’ve had only scetches of music to work to.
Dougie Evans is very excited to begin collaborating with Lila Dance and their youth company the Mayakaras in Kent. Unfortunately snow (an “extreme weather condition”!) has set back schedule.
